Dongeng dari Ukraina ( A Tale from Ukraine)

Tiba-tiba, sosok misterius berwarna putih mengejutkannya. Bluk! Si kucing jatuh pingsan. (Once upon a time in a forest, an old cat cried sadly. Suddenly, a white mysterious figure startled him. Baam! The cat fell unconscious.)

(“I’m sorry..cat, I was just kidding…,” says the fox sorry. “It’s okay, fox…I’m sad because I’m old and lonely…Would you be my friend?” says the cat. “I’d love to! I’m so happy! Nobody wants to be friend with me because I like to tease,” says the fox.)

Si kucing dan si rubah berteman akrab. Suatu hari seekor burung membawa kabar. (The cat and the fox became good friends. One day, a bird brought news. “Have you guys heard about the rabbit, wild boar, and bear that like to steal?” asks the bird. “Not yet!” answer the cat and the fox.)

“Mereka menyebalkan. Pemilik peternakan jadi membenci binatang hutan!” kata burung. “Kita harus menghentikannya!” seru kucing dan rubah. (“They’re such a pain. They make the farm’s owner to hate wild animals!” says the bird. “We have to stop them!” say the cat and the fox.)

(The cat and the fox watched the three animal thieves. The rabbit, bear, and wild boar were about to rob a man’s farm.)

Kucing dan rubah membuat keributan sehingga pemilik peternakan keluar rumah. Kelinci, babi hutan, dan beruang langsung lari terbirit-birit. (The cat and the fox made noises to make the farm’s owner came out of his house. The rabbit, wild boar, and bear immediately ran.)

(“We have to avenge the cat and the fox!” exclaim the rabbit, wild boar, and bear. The three animals invited the cat and the fox to dinner.)

“Awas!” seru rubah menarik lengan kucing. Rubah melempar batu ke tanah dan…BRUK! Sebuah kandang kayu turun dari atas pohon! (The cat and the fox arrived on time at the residence of the rabbit, wild boar, and bear. “What a nice house!” exclaims the cat as he approached the house. “Watch out!” exclaims the fox as he pulled cat’s arm. The fox threw stones to the ground and…CRASH! A wooden cage fell down from the treetop!)

(After they heard the sound of the falling cage; the rabbit, wild boar, and bear came out of the house. “Hey, where are the cat and the fox?!” exclaims the bear.)

Tiba-tiba terdengar suara dari balik pohon, “AKU MONSTER POHON! AKU SUDAH MEMAKAN KUCING DAN RUBAH…SEKARANG…GILIRAN KALIAAAAN!!!” (Suddenly, a voice was heard from behind the tree, “I AM A TREE MONSTER! I’VE EATEN THE CAT AND THE FOX…NOW… IT IS YOUR TURN!!!”)

(A tall white figure stepped out from behind the tree, walking toward the three animal thieves! “HEEEEEEEELP!” exclaim the rabbit, wild boar, and bear running in fear. The cat and the fox that were in disguise as the monster were burst out laughing.)

(Since then, the forest inhabitants always ask for help to the cat and the fox when they’re facing difficulties.)  (Teks: Seruni/ Ilustrasi: Just For Kids/ Translator: Just For Kids)
