JAKARTA, majalahjustforkids.com – Kalahkan 26 gadis lainnya, Ivy Kerkemeyer gadis berusia 9 tahun asal Australia Selatan ini berhasil memenangkan Piala Dunia Skating Artistik di Italia. Ya, Rollerskater muda tersebut berhasil memenangkan kompetisi seluncur dunia!

Beating 26 other girls, Ivy Kerkemeyer, a 9-year old girl from Southern Australia has won the Artistic Skating World Championship in Italy. Yes, the young rollerskater has won the skating world cup!

Secara khusus, Ivy melakukan perjalanan ke Trieste, Italia untuk berkompetisi di Piala Dunia Seluncur Artistik dimana ia bermain skating di divisi “mini”.

Ivy traveled to Trieste, Italy, to compete in the Artistic Skating World Cup in which she played in the ‘mini’ division.

Ivy sempat tidak percaya kalau ia bisa mengalahkan 26 gadis lain dengan skor 44,33 dari 50. “Saya sangat bersemangat untuk membuat negara saya bangga,” katanya.

Ivy couldn’t believe she beat other girls with the score 44,33 out of 50. “I am very excited that I am making my country proud,” she said.

Kepada ABC Radio Adelaide, Ivy mengatakan kemenangan itu sangat mengharukan. “Saya akui saya banyak berteriak. Saya begitu emosi saat melihat nomor satu di layar, saya langsung bersemangat dan melompat ke pangkuan pelatih saya,” tandasnya.

To ABC Radio Adelaide, Ivy said that the victory was very touching. “I admit, I was shouting a lot. I got emotional when I saw number one on the board, I immediately jumped to my coach’s lap,” she mentioned.

Saat mengikuti kejuaraan dunia di Italia, Ivy ditemani sang pelatih, Tammy Bryant yang merupakan pemenang Piala Dunia skating 1995.

When participating in the world championship in Italy, Ivy was accompanied by her coach Tammy Bryant, who was also the 1995 World Champion.

“Saya selalu ingin menjadi juara dalam hidup saya. Ibu saya  mengizinkan saya karena dia dulu bermain skate,” tambah Ivy.

“I’ve always wanted to become a champion in my life. My Mom let me because she used to skate too,” added Ivy.

Usia Dua Tahun

Ivy sendiri telah bermain sepatu roda sejak usia dua tahun. Sang Bunda, Lucy bercerita kalau ia tidak pernah menyangka Ivy akan pulang membawa medali emas.

Ivy has skated since she was two. Her mother, Lucy, said dhtat she never expected Ivy to bring home the gold medal.

“Beberapa menit pertama saat kompetisi, dia terlihat sedikit gugup. Kemudian setelah itu, terjadi peningkatan. Dia cepat percaya diri dan dia benar-benar telah membuat Australia bangga,” ucap sang Bunda.

“A few minutes into the competition, she looks nervous. Afterwards, there was an improvement. She is confident and she really made Australia proud,” said the mother.

Berlatih Setiap Hari

Practice Everyday

Bisa menjadi juara dunia tentu dibutuhkan semangat dan usaha yang keras. Ivy pun berlatih rollerskater secara khusus setiap hari alias tujuh hari dalam satu minggu. Tidak main-main, dalam sehari ia bisa berlatih hingga enam jam.

Being a world champion needs a good fighting spirit and hard work. Ivy practices rollerskating everyday, seven days a week. Her practice could last up to six hours a day.

Agar bisa menyesuaikan dengan semua pelatihannya, sang Bunda pun sengaja menyekolahkan Ivy di rumah. “Awalnya, saya pergi ke sekolah selama setengah hari, tetapi saya mulai kehilangan terlalu banyak waktu berlatih,” kata Ivy.

To adjust to her training, Ivy is homeschooled. “At first, I go to school for hald a day, but I keep losing time to practice,” said Ivy.

Sang Bunda berkata, kemenangan Ivy akan membuka pintu bagi warga Australia lainnya yang bermimpi bermain skating di tingkat internasional.

The mother said, Ivy’s victory will open doors for other Australians who dream of skating in international level.
